I completely understand why someone would love Jesus and Theotokos
One thing that is definitely appealing about Christianity is that in a way, that faith has a father figure (God the Father) and a mother figure (Theotokos) for all those who haven't had them in their lives.
In my life, I have despised my alcoholic and terrible father. A few times he had said, "Don't call your own father those names." Okay, first off, I told you the truth, and secondly, you've called me even more horrible names and caused suffering around you. As the most important consideration, "your own father"?
You're not my father. The heavenly God, God the Father, is my father. The heavenly God, God the Son, is my spiritual father. I have a biological father, but my real father is my God. God is the father of all mankind.
I don't mean this literally, of course God the Father is Jesus' father. But as a strong figurative language, like when the Mother of God is called "our mother" even though she is only the mother of Jesus and, for example, in the hagiography of Saint Catherine of Alexandria, she is called the bride of Christ even though Jesus does not have a bride. The Father of God is the father of all Christians, especially those whose biological father is terrible.
God the Father doesn't drink, lie, commit adultery, behave narcissistically, avoid responsibility, but most importantly, God the Father wants to be a father. He wants to know about his children, he wants to fulfill the role of fatherhood, he wants the best for his children.
God the Son, Jesus, is in every way a man of enduring values. In this country of Finland, all men are godforsaken devils. Jesus is an example for all of humanity and if everyone really followed his commandments, including not committing sin and destructive hedonism, then we would have no problems with Finnish men. Finland is the country with the most single mothers, meaning men abandon their children and wives, and the highest rates of domestic violence and sexual harassment. No, this cannot be explained by immigration, this was how it was before the refugee crisis. Finland is also the most racist country, and Finnish men vote for racist parties. Nothing like this would happen if Finnish men were true godfearing Christians.
My patron saint, Saint Catherine of Alexandria, didn't call herself the Bride of Christ for nothing. If I were ever in a heterosexual relationship, I would only want to be with a man who is like Christ, who has clothed with Christ. He doesn't drink, he doesn't hit, he doesn't act selfishly, he takes responsibility, he has good Christian values.
I also don't need to find a connection to my absent mother. Theotokos is the mother of us all, our greatest intercessor. She listens to all your concerns and is close to you.
In hindsight, if I hadn't somehow just started believing that I don't have to try to fix my parents, but that I should blindly believe that God the Father is my father and the Theotokos is my mother, then I really wouldn't be here. You don't understand what it feels like when your own parents are so sick and absent that they are practically dead to you. Yes, in that situation, your brain starts to cope and you are forced to find your father and mother figures elsewhere.
That faith has always been so strengthening that I would never have succeeded and gotten well. I wouldn't have gotten far in life.
